AMIS Education Foundation

Our yard sale took place in the AMIS school parking lot on Saturday, September 26, from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Thanks to our parent volunteers and supporting families and friends, we raised $1,680 that can be applied toward our fundraising efforts.

Proceeds benefit our classroom enrichment grants that supplement teacher training, field trips, and special classroom projects. (Note: Rain date is Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Please drop off donated items to the school office during school hours from 8:30am - 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. We are accepting donations NOW through Friday, September 18th.

Go through your closets, garage, play room and book shelves to gather any gently used or nearly new items that you just don't need anymore. This is your time to purge and de-clutter before the holiday season! You'll get a tax deduction and we'll try to arrange for pick-up of items as needed.

How You Can Help

1. Promote and spread the word about our yard sale and donation needs. Donations are tax-deductible and proceeds benefit the school's financial aid and supplement teacher training.
2. Grab some donation flyers from the AMIS Lobby round table and distribute to your coworkers, family and friends. You can also download the flyer from here.
3. If you live in an apartment or condo complex, post donation flyers by your mailbox with your contact information if you're willing to collect and transport small items from your neighbors to the school.
4. Donate gently used or nearly new items following the guidelines below.
5. Help us advertise the yard sale:

• Pick up yard sale flyers from the the round table in the AMIS lobby and distribute to neighbors, coworkers, family, friends, and area businesses that you frequent for posting.
• Send an email to your friends and family with a link to this page for more information: http://amisfoundation.org/node/189
• Place lawn sign in your front yard to advertise the fundraising event by contacting the AMIS Office or e-mailing dlbartlett@bellsouth.net.

Yard Sale Donation Guidelines

1. Donate nearly new or gently used items only. Items that are torn, stained, or broken will not be accepted. Please test items before donating.

Potential items to consider:

• Household and kitchen items
• Children's gear, baby equipment, and toys
• Books
• Games
• Sports equipment
• Electronics (no computers please)
• Furniture
• Posters/artwork
• CDs, DVDs/Videos
• Lawn and garden equipment
• Tools
• Clothing, accessories, and costume jewelry

2. Ensure that clothes are clean, without holes and stain-free.

3. Ensure your items pass the "sniff test"

Clothes and other items with a strong musty, mothball, or smoky odor will not be accepted.

4. Drop-off donations during school hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 6:00 pm.

• Donation receipts are attached to a clipboard in the AMIS office and can also be downloaded from here to complete ahead of time.
• Please complete the receipt and get Stephanie or Dione in the AMIS office to stamp it.
• Sign your name on our log-in form.
• Take your items to the metal rack in the hallway to the right of the elevator (next to the stairwell).

5. Bring any large pieces of furniture for donation directly to the sale between 7:00am - 8:00 am on the day of the sale. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able arrange to pick-up furniture through Gena Claudel, who should be contacted at genaclaudel@yahoo.com.

Interested in Volunteering at the Sale?

We need items for our bake sale, display tables, garment racks and additional volunteers from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm on the day of the sale. Check out the AMIS Bulletin Board in the hallway and by the bathrooms in the school lobby for needs and shifts. Contact Diana Bartlett at dlbartlett@bellsouth.net.
