AMIS Education Foundation

Eligibility

Teachers of the Atlanta Montessori International School (AMIS) are eligible to apply for two types of educational grants:

1. Classroom Enrichment Grants to provide funding for field trips and special projects (excluding classroom materials and supplies)
2. Teacher Training Grants to supplement continuing education in Montessori training

Classroom Enrichment Grant Guidelines

1. The maximum annual grant awarded is two-hundred dollars ($200).
2. Grants are awarded one time per school year. 
3. Applications are accepted throughout the school year.
4. The grant should benefit students in a direct way.  It can be used to enhance students’ educational experience through field trips, special presentations, or other educational opportunities that complement the classroom curriculum.
5. Grants may not be used for classroom supplies, professional development, or to supplement funding provided by AMIS.
6. Originality is encouraged!
7. Grant requests cannot exceed two-hundred dollars ($200). 
8. Funds will be given directly to the grant recipient upon award.
9. AMIS Education Foundation will not award projects that have already received funding from other outside granting sources or projects that have occurred prior to submission of the application. 
10. Teachers will be expected to submit the following documentation:
    1. a description of how the money will be used
    2. a summary of project successes and challenges
    3. an accounting of expenses

Teacher Training Grants Guidelines

1. Grants are awarded up to $300 per teacher per school year; only $1260 in total is available for the 2009-2010 school year.
2. Applications are accepted through the school year on a first-come, first-serve basis.
3. The grant is intended to benefit teacher training in a direct way.  The training course and/or conference must be directly related to enhancing the teacher's skills for the classroom.
4. Grants can only be used for registration fees or course materials for the desired conference/course in which the teacher plans to attend.  Grants annot be used to cover travel expenses, lodging, and/or meals that are not included with registration or conference/training fees.
5. Grants may not be used for personal development classes.
6. Funds will be issued directly to conference/course organizers upon grant award.
7. Awards are not retroactive.  AMISEF will not give awards to reimburse for expense incurred prior to application submission.
8. A completed application must include:
   • AMISEF Teacher Training Grant Application Form (download below)
   • Copy of conference or course or workshop description
   • Documentation of registration or conference fees
