Application Process
One of the objectives of the AMIS Education Foundation (AMISEF) is to provide an equal opportunity for all students to attend the Atlanta Montessori International School (AMIS). Our financial aid program helps to increase economic diversity at AMIS. Consequently, all financial aid is based on need.
Families applying for financial aid must complete a Parents’ Financial Statement and submit this to the National Association of Independent Schools’ School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid, using the school code for AMIS Education Foundation. We also require that you mail or deliver copies of your 2008 1040 tax documents and your 2009 tax documents as soon as they become available.
Our Finance Committee receives a summary report from the SSS that calculates the financial aid needs of scholarship applicants. The Committee uses this report and your 2009 tax documents to make its final financial aid decisions. The Committee consists of three to five AMISEF board members. Board members of the AMISEF abide by confidentiality policies and the information they receive is held in strictest confidence.
The Committee uses the SSS calculation as a guideline in determining awards; however, the board ultimately determines the amount awarded in order to spread our limited funds among as many eligible families as possible. All parents are expected to contribute according to their means, taking into account total income, assets, number of dependents, and other appropriate information.
The financial aid schedule follows the AMIS application deadlines for the 2010-2011 school year. See the Application Documents section below for details and deadlines.Financial aid decisions will be mailed out the first week of April. Scholarships will be made in 2 installments from June to April and paid directly to AMIS.

Eligibility
All financial aid is need-based. Although families apply for financial aid at the same time they apply for admission to Atlanta Montessori International School (AMIS), those are separate decisions made by separate groups.Any student who has submitted a financial aid application by the [update date], deadline is eligible for consideration for financial aid. Late applications are not accepted. Financial aid awards are heavily weighted towards students in the Primary community, and additional consideration is given to families with multiple children at AMIS. Children in the half-day Primary program are not eligible for financial aid.
Jace Westmoreland Vaughn Scholarship
The Westmoreland-Vaughn family has created a scholarship to honor AMIS alumni, Jace W. Vaughn. In addition to the need-based eligibility described above, this scholarship encourages racial diversity at AMIS by providing financial assistance for an African-American male child in the Toddler or Primary classes.

About NAIS School and Student Service for Financial Aid
AMIS is not a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). However, the AMIS Education Foundation has paid a subscription fee to use the NAIS’s School and Student Service for Financial Aid because they process financial information following a standard set of procedures. To the best extent possible, the SSS assesses the financial resources available for a family to contribute toward their child’s education.
